Founders Deborah Dennison and Designer Gill Latham
How/where did it all begin?
We felt that there was a need for loungewear/nightwear that was glamorous, felt and looked fabulous that could be worn around the house in front of guests, whilst taking breakfast on the balcony of a fabulous hotel or aboard a cruise ship. We felt that the truly glamorous woman would prefer elegant styles over the tracksuit.
How would you describe your Style?
Elegant but edgy with a classic sensuality.
Do you have a Muse?
Most definitely Elizabeth Taylor
What Fabrics do you use and why?
We use silk prints from Italy – the Italians just have so much style. Our laces are produced especially for us in Switzerland – Switzerland used to be the world capital for lace production and as we are a Swiss company we wanted to incorporate the beautiful craft of this country.
Travels-where have you been, where would you like to go and why?
Have been to many places – Far East including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand. Much of Europe and to several parts of the US and South America. A favorite has been Safaris in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Tanzania. One place I have not yet visited but am fascinated by is India – I believe they have a long history of culture, beautiful palaces and breathtaking scenery.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
The screen sirens of the late 40’s and 50’s – they always looked so glamorous.
Home Town-what you miss about it if you do not live there anymore. What is the best thing about it if you do?
I spent my childhood in many places – several plantations in different parts of Malaysia, boarding school in Edinburgh and then my later school days and early working days in London before moving to Switzerland in the early 90’s. I suppose I would have to say London was probably my home town and what I definitely miss the most is the British sense of humour.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
As a young girl my Scottish Grandfather would say to me on a daily basis “if a job is worth doing, then it is worth doing well”. This goes along with my old school house motto “Through hard work we reach the heights”.
What is your quirkiest habit and how long have you had it?
My daughters would probably say that it is constantly mislaying my hairbrush and then blaming them for losing it. Another is that I cannot bear to leave my handbag on the floor and this goes back as far as I can remember.
What is your happiest memory?
Having two wonderful daughters gives me countless happy memories and my happiest childhood memories are the Easter Holidays which I used to spend with my best friend and her family in a wee Scottish town.
