How/Where did it all begin?

Prior to Ligne de Soie, the aptly named line of luxurious silk loungewear I started two years ago, I worked in hotel development and consulting before and after an MBA from Columbia Business School.  As a native Californian now living in London,  I am no stranger to travelling, but before I London, I moved to seven cities in four countries in seven years.  It was tiring - moving around, staying in hotels, sleeping on sofas, always packing and unpacking.

I found that I wanted to have a luxurious, feminine, flattering, and travel friendly silk robe to take with me wherever I went, that would “lift my spirits" and relieve my tiredness when I draped it around me - almost like a female adult security blanket.  I scoured the globe but found only dowdy, old fashioned robe styles with ugly patterns or polyester fabrics.  I thought the traditional robe needed a makeover!  So, I set out to create the "perfect silk robe" for myself and the result was a kind of silk kimono meets vintage Hollywood look with modern functional features and lush color palettes.
