Introducing Ayten Gasson

Glam Am is delighted and excited to introduce Ayten Gasson.

The successful label, currently in it third year, was founded with the help from The Princes’ Trust organisation. The Princes’ Trust was established by the Prince of Wales in 1976 to help young people over come barriers and help set up their own businesses.

Ayten Gasson launched the label while working from the living room of her Brighton flat. The first collection was successful and sold through boutiques in both London and on the south coast.

Ayten has always had a love of underwear. While studying print design at Central Saint Martins Ayten would prefer to opt to design a pair of knickers to go with an outfit, whether the knickers would be seen or not.

The range of luxury hand made pieces include vintage styles, silk kimonos, 100% silk chiffon knickers, bias cut camisoles, and soft yet supportive bralets. The silk satins, chiffons and finest of Japanese silks are extremely feminine, while the delicate French lace and ribbons add classic detail to each piece. To maintain a high level of quality, and in grand old tradition, each piece is hand made in order to obtain a perfect, comfortable, and elegant finish. Shapes and styles are sourced from vintage lingerie patterns to create individual yet exquisite pieces. Ayten’s current favourite design is from her Strawberry Frill collection - a pair of silk backless peek a boo knickers which have a silk chiffon skirt.

Ayten Gasson was chosen out of 300 graduates for the ‘Fashion in Motion’ show at the V&A in September 2002. The catwalk show featured 15 of the ‘crème de la crème of one of the world’s leading fashion schools’.

Every piece from the Ayten Gasson label is made from 100% silk and is hand made from her design studio in North London. Her team work very closely within the studio so a high level of quality is maintained in each piece. Ayten also takes great pride in sourcing vintage patterns and styles so the designs are different to what you may see in other designer’s styles. “I try to combine beautiful silk fabrics with unusual and interesting designs.”
