Jenny Ambrose and Ayten Gasson: 'The range has an overall playful feel to it and is certainly set to have an impact on how we view hemp as a textile.'
As well as designing and making for her own label, Ayten Gasson has collaborated with fashion label Enamore by Jenny Ambrose to create a range of hand made lingerie using hemp blended with silk/cotton and vintage prints. The designs are inspired by vintage shapes focusing on knickers and soft bras with camisoles and kimonos to come later in summer. Aside from a love of textiles, both Jenny and Ayten share one very important thing in common. They both started their businesses with the help of charity’s including the Prince’s Trust [both businesses] and the Fredericks Foundation [Enamore]. Jenny and Ayten hope that by combining both their 2 years experience in business they will be able to reach more potential customers and develop their ideas further as a collective effort.
The first collection included colours cream, black and coffee cream hemp/silks combined with floral vintage prints in blue and white, coffee and cream and lemon with complimentary yoke, lace and bow details. The shapes include French knickers, full low rise knickers, side tie knickers, soft triangle bras and sweet but kinky eye-masks. The range has an overall playful feel to it and is certainly set to have an impact on how we view hemp as a textile. The designers will be releasing new styles as the vintage fabrics will change with availability so to keep an eye out for new designs.
