Afterwear

Afterwear is an exclusive and unique Danish lingerie and loungewear brand born in 2006. The style is feminine with a sensual and dreamy boudoir feeling. The silhouettes are inspired by retro shapes both from rococo, deco and belle de joure fashion periods as well as the ladylike style of the 40s and 50s. Afterwear products are made using exquisite, natural fabrics such as silk, cotton, viscose, wool, bamboo, mohair and angora with exclusive laces, Swarovski stones and natural pearls. However, it is the abundance of detailed embroidery and the unique handmade finish that make these pieces really stand out. The designer behind the brand is 29 year old Danish fashion designer Signe Tolstrup, who graduated from the Danish Design School in June 2005. Signe started working with lingerie and loungewear in her graduating project, where she discovered her natural style and talent in this field. The name Afterwear arose when a friend of Signe told her she found her designs too good to wear under her clothes where nobody could see them! Reflecting this, Signe came up with the name, accompanied by the slogan:‘underwear that’s too good to hide.’ Signe designs and creates Afterwear products without compromise. “It is very important to focus on design and quality and that products keep the unique look and the handmade finish throughout production.” Fashion, art, artists and handcrafts from earlier ages inspire Signe and often she works around a specific theme for each collection. She does everything from creating the first drawings, designing handmade illustrations for prints, producing catalogues and manufacturing at all levels, from samples through to the final products. Signe also creates all the imagery for each collection.
